Hector The Chalcedonian Kitty
Hector plays a pivotal role in the story of "Lizzie and the Magic Staircase (or Magic Stare Cat, or Magic Scare Cat)." He makes his way to Lizzie as "The Good" Hector when he comes down the Magic Staircase and crosses the electron rainbow bridge.
But he "bifurcates"---splits off into his "evil" version, "The Bad" Hector. The Chalcedonian Council of Early Church Fathers said Jesus was one "Person" with two natures, God and human. Mr. Martin Luther (another smart Bible guy) said even we humans are Chalcedonian-- "one person" with two natures (totally good and totally evil).
Hector was very "Chalcedonian." He was one Kitty, with two cat natures. And the evil one will cause harm, as he beckons Lizzie into danger. But his true nature will come to the rescue.
