Lizzie and the Magic Staircase
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lizzie. When she lay down to go to sleep, especially when Grandma and Papou were there, magical things would happen. As soon as she closed her eyes and got into a semi-sleepy state, the ceiling of her room would turn cloudy and misty, and a magic staircase would descend. It would beckon her to come up. Every step she took the step behind her would disappear. And before she knew it, she was in a place high above the clouds and much much closer to the moon than you can get on this earth.
There at the top of the landing was a carriage, with a coachman that seemed familiar, but she wasn’t quite sure who he was. They would soar over the clouds and see amazing things. And then just at the right time and place the coach would stop. The staircase would appear again, and she knew she needed to go down. There were colors, and tiny sparkles that Papou said were electrons.
She didn’t understand, but she knew it had something to do with science and the universe. A boat they call a gondola awaited her at the bottom of the magic steps. And she sailed across the water to the puddle upon which she was to stand. Hector, her favorite cat had come along too, and he crossed the double helix rainbow bridge to get there. He was not going to leave her alone. And besides, Kid-E-Cats can take advantage of quantum physics as well.
It was a good thing. Because there wasn’t just a magic staircase. There was a magic stair cat. Or better yet scare cat. And a key appeared in her hand, and the cat beckoned her to come into the room behind the locked door with a power she could not explain. What adventure awaited her there?
There was only one way to find out. Turn the key and go in. And what she will find is yet to be seen. This is just part one of “Lizzie, and the Magic Staircase.” Or “Lizzie, and the Magic Stare Cat.” Or “Lizzie and the Magic Scare cat.”
Stay tuned for the next painting in the series.
