Luke 2 41-50 The Boy Jesus - What Did Jesus Know About His Sacrifice as a Boy?

The few snippets of Jesus’ boyhood we have are found in these 13 verses. But the lessons they contain are amazingly deep.

In what categories did this Son of Man/Son of God grow? And do they perhaps give us a model of growth categories we can shoot for with our children and grandchildren?

And just what did Jesus ask the teachers at the Temple when he stayed back at the Temple while His parents assumed He was in the traveling party with them?

Was He finally getting down to understanding His mission the same way we do—by studying Scripture?

And did He actually know as a 12-year-old boy how He was going to die?

Or did His Father hold that one close to His chest until Jesus got to that point.

So many times we won’t know what we’re going to have to go through “until we get there.”

And believe it or not, maybe Jesus didn’t either.

Fascinating insights in this study, which I may delve into a bit deeper next week.

But the journey with Jesus in Luke, and more importantly in daily life.
